BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford men's basketball team suffered its second consecutive conference loss on Friday, losing late to Chesapeake, 67-62.
The Fighting Owls stormed out of the gates to begin the second half and took what looked to be a commanding lead, but the Skipjacks ended the game on a 27-11 run over the final six minutes for their first win of the season.
Ousman Gomez banked in a 10-foot floater as the shot clock was running down in the game's final minute for a critical bucket and a 63-60 lead. The team's traded free throws for the final margin. Gomez was clutch late, especially at the line and backcourt mate Paul James connected on a few big triples late to help the Skipjacks fight back from an 11-point halftime deficit. Gomez finished with game-high 19 points, 13 in the second-half, and James chipped in with 16 off the bench and four 3-pointers.
