ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - The Harford tennis teams both defeated Hood but fell at Elizabethtown last week.
Andy Rao won all four of his matches last week to lead the Fighting Owls.
The men's team defeated Hood, 7-2, but fell, 5-4, in a hard-fought match against E-Town. Rao claimed victory at No. 3 singles and No. 3 doubles with
Victor Roman against Hood and claimed half the team's wins against the Bluejays, again at No. 3 singles and No. 3 doubles, this time with Patrik Stasik. Rao earned a straight-sets win in singles, 6-1, 6-2, and an 8-2 win at doubles.
Leonardo Sanches defeated Harford alum
Vladislav Sluchenkov at No. 1 singles in the Hood match. He totaled three wins in the week, along with Bobby Frantz. Matt Linck dropped the first set of his Hood match at No. 6 singles, but stormed back for a clutch win.
On the women's side, the Fighting Owls defeated Hood, 8-1, before getting shutout by E-Town. Haileigh Carper and Marina Schmidt continued their dominance at No. 1 doubles, while both picking up a win in singles.
The Fighting Owls now prepar for the NJCAA National Tournament. The women head to Tuscon, Arizona on May 2, while the men travel to Plano, Texas the following week.
