BALTIMORE - The Harford men's basketball team lost a road rivalry tilt on Wednesday on the game's final possession to Baltimore City, 73-71.
The Fighting Owls (12-6, 5-4 MD JUCO) used a clutch 3-pointer by
Aaron McDonald to tie the score at 71-71. The Panthers (14-4, 6-1 MD JUCO) called timeout to set up a final shot opportunity. With 3.3 seconds remaining, Tre' Thomas connected on just his second shot of the evening, the game-winner, from the left elbow.
McDonald, Cedric HInes and
Davonte Williams led Harford with 14 points. Williams pulled in 11 rebounds for his second career double-double.
Jalen Thompson corralled a team-best 12 recounds, but was held to just seven points on 2-of-10 shooting.
The Fighting Owls have been performing better at the line in recent contests, including shooting a season-best 84.6 percent (22-of-26) from the charity stripe in the loss on Wednesday.
Harford travels to Prince George's on Friday before returning home for three-straight contests.
