BEL AIR, Md. - Playing in front of 400-plus middle school students from across the county on Field Trip Day, the Harford men's basketball team toppled CCBC Catonsville on Friday afternoon, 87-69. The Fighting Owls were in control throughout the win and led for the final 36 minutes of the contest.
Five different Fighting Owls reached double figures, led by
Davonte Williams' team-best 15 points. He shot 6-of-10 from the floor and 3-of-6 from behind the arc in the victory.
Fadil Robinson notched his team-leading fifth double-double, totaling 14 points and pulling in a game-high 15 rebounds.
Jay Johnson provided a second-half spark off the bench. He recorded all 14 of his points after intermission, shooting 5-of-6 from the floor and 4-of-5 from the charity stipe while collecting nine rebounds.
Evason Ogbonna and
Cedric Hines also hit double digits, finishing with 13 and 10 points, respectively.Â
The Harford defense adjusted at the half to cool CCBC Catonsville's hot-shooting guard Montague Wright. Wright still finished with a game-high 33 points, but was held to 1-of-4 from 3-point land after shooting 5-for-9 from behind the arc in the first half. No other Cardinal scorer had more than five points.
The Fighting Owls close out their three-game home stand on Sunday when they host Thomas Nelson at 2 p.m. The women's game begins at noon.
