HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Harford was held scoreless for the first five minutes of the game, falling behind 8-0 before Aaron McDonald banked in a three-point shot.
  • Jalen Thompson stopped a strong run by Monroe with a nice spin move and lay-up, but Monroe answered back with a three to go up 20-10 after nine minutes of play.
  • Micah Till, the top scorer for the Fighting Owls this season, scored his first basket 10 minutes into the game with a  three-pointer from the corner.
  • Martin Kelly took a shot from behind the back board that Dom Keyes rebounded and scored the basket while being fouled and converted an old-fashioned three-point play.
  • Malik Jones came off the bench to spark some energy as he scored for the Fighting Owls on three straight possessions to get Harford within four at 35-31 with two minutes left in the first half.
  • With the Fighting Owls down 39-32 at halftime, Till once again came out hot after the break with a three pointer.
  • Keyes scored on back-to-back possessions to give Harford their first lead of the game with 17 minutes left in the second half at 42-41. That lead wouldn't last long as Monroe scored on the next possession as part of a 6-0 run.
  • Till was able to drive into the lane and tie the game up at 47-47 with just under ten minutes left, and then took a charge on the other side of the court. McCallum scooped in a lay-up on the next possession to give Harford the lead back. After Monroe hit a three to tie the game, McDonald answered right back with a long range shot to regain the lead for the boys in blue with eight minutes left.
  • Monroe went on a 10-3 run, which was finally stopped when Till muscled his way to an offensive board and tipped it in to cut the Monroe lead to 60-58 with 3:39 left in regulation.
  • Down 66-62 with less than a minute remaining, Jones missed a wide open three pointer with the Mustangs grabbing the rebound and dashing the Fighting Owls hopes for a victory with Till and McCallum also missing from long range.
