SUMTER, S.C. - The Harford men's tennis team (8-1) took its first defeat of the season, but closed the 2016 Spring Trip out with a victory on Sunday. The Fighting Owls beat USC Sumter, Oxford of Emory and Sopartanburg Methodist, but were swept by ABAC.
Tomas Eduardo Parra Pozo went 2-1 at singles, including a win at No. 1 singles over Oxford of Emory and a win at No. 2 singles over Spartanburg Methodist.
Xavier Graells and
Alejandro Serrano Clarke also went 2-1 at singles.
Parra and Graells also went 2-1 at doubles on the trip, while
Breno de Paula Lodi and
Pablo Safont Ferrer earned two doubles wins.
In the shortened match against SMC, Lodi and
Renan Baldi, the team's top doubles pair, improved to 5-1 on the season at No. 1 doubles with a close 8-6 victory.
The Fighting Owls host Stevenson on Wednesday and ASA on Friday.
