Harford 1 – CCRI 3
The Fighting Owls looked to avenge a loss to CCRI in the semi-finals at the Dragon Invitational a week before, but they fell just short of doing so. This was a much different match as Harford came out firing early despite losing a close first set. The second set was dominated by the Fighting Owls with a 25-12 score, and had all of the momentum in the 3
rd set before an extended administrative delay in the game shifted the momentum in Rhode Island's favor.
Jenna Hathazi was a monster in this match, as she threw down 14 kills and just a single error in 39 attempts to go along with 20 digs and a block assist in one of her best performances of the season. Libero Rebekah Hashaw also put in a fine performance with 25 digs and adding a couple of assists and aces as well.
Setter
Hannah Roussey completed her "double-double" with 32 assists and 10 digs and also added a couple of assisted blocks. In the middle,
Mary Snow and
Phoenix Offutt were a menace to the Vikings throughout the match as they combined for 12 kills, 3 solo blocks, and 6 assisted blocks with Snow also adding 3 aces. Ultimately, the Fighting Owls efforts were just not enough on the day.
Harford will get to return home to the friendly confines of the APGFCU Arena on Wednesday September 21
st to take on divisional rival Baltimore City for a 6 PM match.
