HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Fighting Owls fell behind early as they struggled to find continuity on offense.
  • Catonsville got ahead by as many as 15 with minutes left in the first half before a furious rally by Harford cut that lead to just four at halftime.
  • Harford regained the lead thanks to an 8-0 run as Aaron McDonald got on a hot streak.
  • The two teams traded blows for much of the second half.
  • Jalen Thompson hit a three pointer with 6 minutes left that gave Harford their last lead of the game as the Cardinals followed up with an 8-0 run of their own that sealed the win for Catonsville.

GAME QUOTES AND NOTES:
  • Head Coach Michael Smelkinson: "We just came out flat and weren't playing hard. We got the lead and didn't play smart when we had it and let them capture it back. We have to figure out a way to play hard on the road because we have some tough road games coming up and we have to fix that."
  • Sophomore guard Aaron McDonald: "We shouldn't have lost that game. We didn't play as hard as we usually do. Catonsville kept the momentum going for much of the game; we fought back but it wasn't enough."
  • Sophomore forward Dom Keyes: "I'm mad, we need to play together as a team more than we did today. It came down to defense; we can score as much as we want to but we have got to play together on defense."
  • Aaron McDonald scored 25 points with five three-point shots.
  • Dom Keyes had a monster second half with 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks in the second stanza alone.
  • Jalen Thompson scored 13 points and 8 rebounds with Micah Till adding 6 points and 11 rebounds.

UP NEXT:
  • Harford will continue their stretch of conference games as they travel to Cecil College on Saturday, January 14th at 3 pm.
  • The Seahawks are 7-7 on the season and are 13th in the conference at 1-5 with their lone win coming against Southern Maryland in overtime.
