HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Fighting Owls were up by nine points with just a minute and a half minute left in the second half and seemed to be on their way to a comfortable win.
  • A combination of turnovers and poor free throw shooting allowed the Panthers to claw back as they hit a three pointer with four seconds left to tie the game at 70-70 sending the game to overtime.
  • In the extra period, Aaron McDonald shot 4-4 from the floor, scoring 9 of his 23 points in overtime including a monster fast break-slam dunk that ignited the crowd.
  • Micah Till, who missed the game on Tuesday, struggled from the floor in the game but still managed to put in 19 points along with 10 rebounds, 5 steals, and 3 blocks. Till was swarmed in the post every time he received the ball, but gave a warrior's effort in the contest.
  • Isaiah White was the offensive star of the game with 24 points on 9-13 shooting as well as 8 rebounds.

GAME QUOTES AND NOTES:
  • Head Coach Michael Smelkinson: "Besides the last couple of minutes, we played with great heart on defense. Overall I was very pleased with our effort. We are going to see (Baltimore City) again this season, and the atmosphere of our arena when we play them is good for Harford and good for our conference."
  • Freshman guard Isaiah White: "Coming back from winter break, coach told me that he needed me to step up more, bring more intensity, and get tougher to show I can get involved in a dog fight so that I can be a leader as well."
  • Trent McCallum and Malik Jones with the only real contributors off the bench for the Fighting Owls, combining for 15 points and 6 assists.

UP NEXT:
  • Harford will next travel to Catonsville to take on the Cardinals on Tuesday, January 10th at 7 pm.
  • The Cardinals are 10-4 on the season and are 5th in the conference at 5-2.
