The Short Story: The Fighting Owls went up against the conference leading Hawks in their penulatamate regular season match in a battle for bragging rights. While the Fighting Owls put forth one of their best performances of the season, the gritty Harford squad fell just short in a five set thriller.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Fighting Owls came into Hagerstown knowing that their foes had not lost a conference match so far this season.
- Despite losing the first set, the ladies in blue had a lot of confidence that came through in a dominating second set.
- Olivia Manraksa going things going with a couple of early kills in the set then Madison Scarpulla slammed home three in short order to get Harford ahead.Â
- Savannah Meyers was an absolute beast at the net as she picked up a few blocks in the set then hit back-to-back kills to close out the set.
- Hagerstown showed some signs of being flustered as they piled up unforced errors while the Harford front line continued to get blocks with Jenna Hathazi, Raechel Bowman and Kyning Tillinghast getting the job done.
- Harford went up 24-20 and despite the Hawks getting a couple of points to make things nervous, Tillinghast slammed it home to give the Fighting Owls a 2-1 lead.
- The Hawks came back with a vengence and took the fourth set to force a dramatic fifth set between the conference rivals.
- Hathazi and Meyers each had three blocks in the final set while Scarpulla got another big kill to keep Harford close, but Hagerstown was able to barely hold on and complete their perfect conference regular season.
- Scarpulla led the team with 11 kills which marks a career high for her easily breaking her previous high of seven kills to go along with 11 digs
- Jenna Hathazi earned a triple-double with 32 assists, 10 blocks and 14 digs while Savannah Meyers finished with an incredible 11 blocks and 10 kills.
- Kyning Tillinghast also had 10 kills combined with 18 digs while libero Allie Hallameter led the team with 23 digs.

- Harford will have their final regular season match on Friday, October 20 as they face Harcum College starting at 7 PM.
- The Bears are 12-7 on the year and this will be the third meeting of the season between the two teams with Harford winning the season opener in five sets followed by a Harcum four set victory in the finals of the Essex Invitational Tournament.
