HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Harford honored their 2017 sophomore class of Mary Greig, Kyning Tillinghast, Julia Gatch, Savannah Meyers and Jenna Hathazi in a pregame ceremony that brought about cheers and tears.
  • When play got underway, it was Meyers, Gatch and Tillinghast that were swinging big arms early and often as the trio were all hitting well throughout the match.
  • Harcum's star hitter Kristina Aleksic and her 23 kills propelled the Bears to a 2-0 lead as her twin sister and her 41 assists kept Harford on their heels.
  • The Fighting Owls clawed their way back into the match, starting the third set with a 5-0 run including two Madison Scarpulla kills and three straight Hathazi aces.
  • With the game on the line, the fourth set saw some incredibly long rallies and tough points back and forth.
  • Harford took the lead at 16-15 on Scarpulla's first block of the season followed by a Gatch.
  • The Fighting Owls looked to be in the driver's seat after a block by Meyers and Tillinghast then a Gatch kill to make it a 21-19 Harford lead, but a 5-0 run by the Bears allowed Harcum to close out the match in four sets.
