 HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a couple of really tough games for both teams, the rigor of playing in three consecutive days was clearly evident in the first half.
  • The Harford defense was fantastic, holding a strong Cape Fear team that scored 106 points against Baltimore City to just 31% from the floor in the opening 20 minutes.
  • DeZ Brown continued to play with tenacity as he racked up four blocks in the first half.
  • Martin Kelly Jr. and Isaiah Boggs also played with great energy with seven points each while Kelly added seven rebounds.
  • The Fighting Owls spent most of the first half settling for three pointers as half of their shots came from behind the arc, but Harford went into halftime with a 33-27 lead.
  • Khalil Williams-Diggins hit back-to-back three pointers early in the second half and Harford extended their lead to 44-34.
  • With Harford up by 12, Cape Fear fought back with a 20-0 run before Malik Jones hit a clutch three pointer to stop the bleeding.
  • Cape Fear continued to force turnovers as they went on another 7-0 run to run their lead up to 12 points midway through the second half.
  • Harford answered with an 11-0 run of their own spurred by the attacking Boggs followed by another Jones three pointer to tie the game at 63-63 with six minutes left.
  • Kelly made a great layup up from a Joshua Ortiz assist in the post, to give the Fighting Owls a 65-64 lead, but the Sea Devils hit a few big shots then made their free throws to hold on for victory.
  • Boggs led the way with 18 points while Jones and Kelly had 12 points each, but the 25 Harford turnovers including 15 in the second half proved too much for the Fighting Owls to overcome.
UP NEXT
  • Harford will finally return to the APGFCU Arena after a prolonged absence from their home court as they will host Chesapeake for a conference game on Tuesday, December 5 at 7 PM.
  • The Chesapeake Skipjacks are 3-5 on the year and 1-1 in conference play after a 93-91 win over Howard and an 86-73 loss at Frederick.
