  • After a NOVA free throw, the Fighting Owls went on an 8-0 run to enjoy an early 18-1 lead with Micah Till scoring nine early points.
  • The Nighthawks responded with an 11-0 run of their own as they were able to keep it close in a 28-20 low scoring first half lead for Harford.
  • NOVA made a charge in the second half, cutting the Fighting Owl lead to just three at 43-40 with eight minutes left in the second half.
  • That is when an unexpected hero shined as forward Martin Kelly scored 15 points in the last eight minutes of the game to secure the victory for Harford.

GAME QUOTES AND NOTES:
  • Head coach Mike Smelkinson: "The guys competed at a high level on defense all night. Offensively, we were a bit sloppy, but we had over a week between games so it was good to get the rust off before the conference tournament. Our bench stepped up and contributed in the second half and we did what we needed to in order to get a good team win."
  • Dom Keyes played 32 minutes in the game, his most for the season, and played outstanding defense with 7 blocks, 7 rebounds and 2 steals.
  • Micah Till led the team in points once again with 21 and scored at least 20+ points for the sixth time this season along with 13 rebounds for his 8th double-double this year and third straight game.
  • Martin Kelly scored a season high 17 points on 6-11 from the floor and was 4-4 from the charity stripe.
  • Mychal Stefanides added 9 points off he bench with Isaiah White scoreing 8, and Keyes with 7.
  • The Harford defense held NOVA to a 30% field goal percentage as they shot 2-21 from three point range.

UP NEXT:
  • Harford will go into the Md Juco conference tournament as the #1 seed after finishing the regular season at 12-2 in conference play.
  • The Fighting Owls will face the #8 seed Frederick Cougars who were 10-13 on the year and 7-7 in the conference.
  • Harford defeated Frederick in their regular season match in a tight 73-67 game back in the middle of November.
