Harford Shuts Out Hawks

Fighting Owls allow just four shots on goal in the blowout

  • The Short Story: The Harford men's lacrosse team shut out their conference opponents in a dominant effort on both sides of the field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Fighting Owls got out to quick start going into halftime with a comfortable 16-0 lead.
  • Nick Esser and Kyle Barkley had a field day as they combined for 12 goals. Esser scored six goals on seven shots and Barkley scored six goals on eight shots with John Perry close behind with five goals.
  • Connor Davies and Kasey Davenport added two goals each with Andy Stump, Chase Oberlin, Austin Johnston, Brandon Johnston, and even long pole Nick Lloyd all scoring one goal each.
  • Give credit to Esser for three assists in the game along with Chase Oberlin, Andy Stump and John Perry who finished with two assists each.
  • Chris Parrott, Kyle Thomas and Matt Kunkel did a great job in the face-off circle, combining to go 22-28.
  • Harford did an amazing job on defense allowing just four shots on goal all game, not taking a penalty throughout the contest, and they acquired 36 ground balls led by Andy Stump who had 8 ground balls on the day.
  • Adam Smith and Hunar Berzangi stood tall in the goal as the help the Fighting Owls with their first shut-out of the season.
  • Perry and Barkley now rank second and third respectively for goals in the NJCAA. Esser leads the nation with his 17 assists for the year.

UP NEXT:
  • Harford will return home to face Finger Lakes on Sunday, March 19 at 2 PM.
  • The Lakers are 1-0 on the season after Howard was forced to forfeit the contest between the two teams back in late February.
