  • The Short Story: The Harford men's basketball team rode a strong second half to win the Region 20 Division I championship over rivals Baltimore City.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Baltimore City led for the majority of the first half after a quick 11-2 start.
  • The Panthers lead extended up to 10 at 36-26 with just three minutes left in the opening stanza.
  • Harford went on a 9-0 run at the end of the half with Aaron McDonald hitting a big three pointer as Harford went into halftime trailing 36-35.
  • Jalen Thompson kept that run going to start the second half with a hoop and harm to give Harford a two point lead. 
  • Panther's forward Deion Evans hit a three pointer to take the lead, but Thompson responded with a three of his own for just his fifth made three pointer of the season.
  • Juanir Moore had a highlight worthy dunk that rocked the house early 
  • With the game tied 54-54 and 8:15 left in regulation, tournament MVP took over as Micah Till led Harford on an 8-0 run with Till scoring six of them sandwiching a monster dunk by Isaiah White.
  • The Panthers crawled back to within three, but Trent McCallum came through for the Fighting Owls again as he had a big game to earn a spot on the All-Tournament team as he scored 10 points in the second half.
  • Baltimore City briefly regained the lead with a three pointer at the 2:38 mark but Till, White, and McDonald scored consecutive baskets to give the Fighting Owls the lead for good.

GAME NOTES
  • Micah Till won the Tournament MVP thanks to his miraculous efforts in the semifinals along with an 18 point, 18 rebound performance in the finals.
  • Trent McCallum was named to the All-Tournament after his huge steal to help win the semifinal game as well as 14 points off the bench in the finals.
  • Jalen Thompson scored eight points and grabbed nine rebounds with four of those coming on the offensive side as Harford grabbed 21 offensive rebounds as a team.
  • Aaron McDonald rebounded nicely after a tough semifinal game to score 15 points in the finals with a trio of treys.
  • Dom Keyes, the new record holder for most blocks in a season by a Harford player, grabbed seven rebounds and had two blocks in just 13 minutes of play.

  • Harford host the winner of the Region 15 championship game on Friday, March 10 at 8:00 PM for the District C championship game with a trip to the National Tournament on the line.
