HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1

  • The Lakers took the early lead in the opener with back-to-back doubles off starter Truman Thomas.
  • That would prove to be the only time Thomas was touched up as he went four innings, giving up just four hits and two walks with six strikeouts to pick up his sixth win of the season.
  • From there it was all about the Harford bats highlighted by RBI doubles from Tanner FOrry and John Mastrangelo in the third inning.
  • Harford manufactured runs in the fourth inning as Tre Todd scored on a balk, Peyton Sorrels scored on a wild pitch, and Ryan Shinn scored on a throwing error by the Lakers catcher when Ryan Calhoun stole second.
  • Needing just one run in the bottom of the fifth to invoke the mercy rule, Calhoun took a two out fastball over the right field fence for a three run home run to end the game.

GAME 2

  • Garrett once again did damage in the top of the first in the night cap to take a 2-0 in large part due to an error that kept the inning alive.
  • Harford clawed back gradually with a Tre Todd single to score Ronnie Krsolovic in the third, a Luke Johnson solo shot in the fourth, and a Ryan Shinn RBI single in the fifth.
  • The Lakers regained the lead with three runs in the top of the sixth as starter Frankie Fraschetti was pulled for Tim Kranz who was able to retire the last out of the inning and wound up with the win to improve to 9-0 on the season.
  • The Fighting Owls broke out in the bottom of the sixth as Tre Todd hit a bases loaded double to deep left center that scored two runs to tie the game at 5-5.
  • Peyton Sorrels singled past the Lakers infield to score another two runs and take the lead followed by a Ryan Shinn bomb to deep left field that solidified the Harford lead for good.
  • Closer Reid Frazier entered the game in the seventh and earned a 1-2-3 inning with a couple of strikeouts to get the job done.

UP NEXT

  • Harford will complete their conference schedule with a home and home series this week starting with a trip to CCBC Essex on Monday, April 24 for a 4 PM game.
  • The Knights are 10-22 on the year and 5-12 in conference play.
