  • Box Scores:

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1

  • Mike Taylor dominated the Avengers line up from the first pitch, as he took a perfect game bid into the fifth inning before allowing his first hit and run in the inning.
  • Taylor eventually gave up three runs over six innings, but also racked up 12 strikeouts and no walks.
  • Ryan Shinn hit his sixth home run of the week and the seventh in seven games as he lined one out to straight center in the first inning.
  • Ryan Calhoun continued his resurgence with an RBI single to right field in the second inning.
  • Ahead 2-1 going into the bottom of the fifth, Toby Sponseller hit a clutch RBI single through the left side whole with Harford tacking on another insurance run on a Tanner Forry sac fly.
  • Those runs proved crucial when ASA hit a two run home run in the top of the sixth to make it a 4-3 Harford lead.
  • Shut down closer Reid Frazier struck out the side in the top of the seventh to pick up his fourth save of the season.
GAME 2
  • Tim Kranz took the bump for game two of the doubleheader and was able to work through some early hiccups to improve his record to 10-0 on the year with a complete game seven strikeout performance.
  • After ASA scored a couple in the top of the first, Adam Rapp bombed a two run shot to right field.
  • The Fighting Owls continued to get on base and scored two more runs thanks to some sloppy defense from the Avengers.
  • ASA tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the second, but Harford fought right back with RBI doubles from Tre Todd and Luke Johnson as well as an RBI triple by Ryan Shinn that fell between the left and center fielders for the Avengers.
  • Harford picked up a run on a passed ball in the fifth inning to take an 8-4 lead into the sixth.
  • The wheels truly came off for ASA in the bottom of the sixth as Rapp knocked out his second of the game followed by a Johnson two run homer that was mashed to deep left center field.
  • The Fighting Owls loaded up the bases and then scored a couple of runs on wild pitches to end the game in the sixth inning.
UP NEXT
  • Harford will finally get a couple of days off before traveling to Brookdale on Tuesday, May 2 starting at 2:30 PM.
  • The Jersey Blues are 30-14 on the season including a 22-10 loss at Harford earlier this week.
