Harford Faces Tough Competition at Invitational

Fighting Owls earn valuable experience against top talent in South Carolina

  • The Short Story: The Fighting Owls competed as best as they could against some of the top volleyball teams in the area at an invitational in South Carolina.
                                                                  
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Harford went up against the host of the tournament in successive days and were unable to match the powerhouse team despite their ability to keep unforced errors to a minimum.
  • The Fighting Owls had better success against Walters State and Davidson County where they barely missed out on stealing a few sets.
  • Jenna Hathazi was particularly effective in the match against Davidson County where she led the team in kills (9) aces (3) blcoks (4) and assists (9).
  • Libero Leah Sanders had her work cut out for her on the defensive side where she accumulated 44 digs over the four matches including an impressive 19 in one match. 
  • Kyning Tillinghast swatted down five blocks against Walters State as she took over the duties of middle blocker in the match.

UP NEXT
  • Harford will return home to the friendly confines of the APG Federal Credit Union Arena on Thursday, August 31 at 6 PM against Northampton.
  • The Spartans were 31-3 in the 2016 season and will be playing their season opener at Harford.
