HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Frederick came into the APGFCU Arena on the back of a five match winning streak where they did not even drop a set against the five conference opponents.
  • The Cougars jumped out to an early lead, but Harford tied the first set at 12-12 with Savannah Meyers picking up back-to-back kills.
  • The Cougars responded by taking eight of the next nine points and despite big hits from Julia Gatch and Meyers to close the gap, Frederick took down the first set.
  • Harford jumped all over Frederick in the second set with Gatch slamming down five kills in the first 15 rallies.
  • Frederick was marred by errors throughout the set while Kyning Tillinghast and Jenna Hathazi kept the pressure on and Gatch earned her sixth kill of the set to close out the dominant stanza for the home squad.
  • It was Tillinghast who got hot early in the third set with three early kills, but Frederick rolled ahead 22-8 before Harford stormed back with seven straight points to claw their way back in.
  • Gatch and Olivia Manraksa slammed home a couple more points to get Harford within six, but Frederick was able to finally finish the set off.
  • The fourth set was a back and forth affair as it went down to the wire after Raechael Bowman, Gatch and Tillinghast had Harford seven points away from forcing a fifth set.
  • Ultimately, the Cougars went on a late run to close out the match as Frederick stayed undefeated in conference play.
  • Gatch and Meyers had double digit kills (12 and 11 respectively) with Hathazi finishing with 23 assists.
  • Libero Leah Sanders led all Fighting Owls with 22 digs with Allie Hallameyer, Tillinghast and Hathazi all with 10 digs.
  • The Harford front line had one of their most productive days on defense with 10 team blocks led by Hathazi with three and a half blocks and Meyers with two and a half blocks.
