 HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Fighting Owls got out to an early 6-0 lead as they held Montgomery scoreless for almost five minutes to start the game.
  • The Harford backcourt took a hit as Khalil Williams-Diggins picked up two fouls in the first two minutes of play and rode the bench for the rest of the opening period.
  • Malik Jones took over for Williams-Diggins provided a spark off the bench, hitting a couple of three pointers as soon as he stepped on the court and led the way for Harford with 10 points during a 15-2 run for the boys in blue.
  • DeZ Brown got into the scoring action with a great drive to make the basket and draw a foul to get Harford up by 16 at 22-6.
  • Carlos Done continued his great tournament performance, making a couple from long range early on his way to an eight point first half.
  • The Md Juco conference leading scorer Colin Turner was held to just five points in the first half, but found his rhythm in the second half as he scored 10 straight Raptor points and 30 in the game to cut the Harford lead down to 55-51.
  • Jones once again had the answer with a couple of layups on his way to a team high 24 points.
  • With the game winding down, it was Brown who came up big with a couple of clutch layups and a monster block on a Montgomery fast break. The block was the 70th of the season for Brown which ties the Harford record for most blocks in a single season.
  • Harford took advantage of the Brown block as they took off the other way and scored on transition with Jones making a layup to extend the Fighting Owls' lead back up to 69-62 with a minute and a half left in the game.
  • Montgomery hit a couple of tough three pointers in the last minute that cut Harford's lead down to just two, but Martin Kelly Jr. Made his free throws down the stretch and the Fighting Owls earned their place in the conference tournament finals.
