Harford Takes Two From Frederick

  • The Short Story: After a six day layoff due to the snow storm, the Fighting Owls picked up right where they left off by sweeping their doubleheader against the Cougars. A pair of doubles from Nick D'Amore drove Harford to an 8-1 win in game one, while strong pitching from Zach Guth and Nick DeCarlo gave the men in blue a 12-0 mercy rule shortened victory in game two.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
  • Frederick grabbed their lone run of the day with a solo home run in the top of the first
  • Nick D'Amore's RBI double tied the game in the bottom of the third. The Cougars would walk in a run and allow Colin Adams to bring in one of his own to give Harford a 3-1 lead.
  • D'Amore sent his second double of the game to right center to bring in two runs, sparking a five-run inning in the bottom the sixth to secure Harford an 8-1 win.
  • Truman Thomas picked up his fourth win of the season, conceding four hits while striking out four over five innings of work.
GAME 2
  • Harford's arms were surgical in game two, as Zach Guth and Nick DeCarlo combined to allow just two hits while striking out eight in five innings.
  • The Fighting Owls would bat through their entire lineup in the bottom of the first and jumped out to a 4-0 lead.
  • Strong base running from Michael Richardson saw him steal two bags and score off a wild pitch to put Harford up 5-0. Several walks and a wild pitch would see Lou Testa come home for a 6-0 advantage.
  • The men in blue doubled their lead over the final two innings, plating six runs to end the afternoon with a 12-0 victory in mercy rule shortened game.
UP NEXT
  • Harford remain at home to face off against Erie in a three game series starting with a doubleheader on Sunday, March 25 at Noon.
  • The Kats are 6-4 on the year and have lost their last three coming into the weekend.
