Fighting Owls Earn Historic Victory Over CCBC Essex

  • The Short Story: The Fighting Owls dominated their cross town rivals as Harford defeated CCBC Essex in men's lacrosse first the first time in the modern Harford era (2008-present).

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Fighting Owls gave up the opening goal of the game just 10 seconds in as the Knights took the face off and scored immediately.
  • Harford responded with four straight goals, two each from Eli Doyle and Reece Wiseman to get ahead.
  • Essex fought their way back a little to make it a 5-3 Harford lead, but Wiseman scored a couple more in the second quarter and Doyle finished his hat trick just seconds before halftime to give Harford an 8-4 lead at the break.
  • The depleted Knights squad crumpled in the third quarter as the Fighting Owls outscored their opponents 7-0 in the quarter with Chandler Schmidt, Wiseman and Doyle each scoring two along with Jeff Otenasek adding a goal.
  • Harford continued to increase the lead as defenseman Shaun Vines picked up a goal and an assist in the fourth quarter along with a Stephen Leese long range snipe as the Fighting Owls routed their conference rivals.
UP NEXT
  • Harford will face their conference rivals Howard on Wednesday, April 11 at 4 PM in Columbia, Md.
  • The #4 ranked Dragons are 6-2 on the year and 1-0 in the conference with their only losses coming against #2 ranked Nassau and #3 Genesee.
  • Howard's lone conference game this year was a 13-8 victory over #5 Anne Arundel on March 28.
