North East, Md. – Harford suffered its first conference loss of the season on Wednesday, falling to the Cecil Seahawks 97-93 in overtime.
Harford drops to 11-7 (6-1 Md Juco) with the loss, while Cecil improves to 7-9 (2-5 Md Juco).
Turning Point
Free throws proved to be the only thing that could separate Harford and Cecil on the evening.
Down by three with just over 90 seconds left in overtime, the Fighting Owls were whistled for a defensive foul, followed by an additional technical foul and eventual ejection. This handed the Seahawks' Jacob Falko six attempts from the charity stripe, of which he would knock down five.
Harford managed to scratch and claw back within two points with 20 seconds remaining, but a second technical foul of the overtime period was pinned on Harford, handing Cecil two more free throws and a four point lead they'd carry to a win.
When the final buzzer sounded, Harford had been awarded 40 free throws over the course of 45 minutes. Cecil were given 49 free throw attempts, led by Falko's 24-of-27 night from the line.
