Frederick Dismisses Harford From Conference Tournament

Hagerstown, Md. – The Fighting Owls hopes of back-to-back Md Juco tournament titles came to an end Saturday night, as the Frederick Cougars took down Harford 91–68 in the conference semifinals.

Jaedon Willis led the Fighting Owls with 14 points in the loss.

Frederick improve to 18-8 with the victory, while Harford falls to 16-11.

How it Happened
Nine lead changes highlighted the opening 20 minutes of the game. Frederick eventually separated themselves in the final three minutes, claiming 10 of the half's final 12 points to move ahead 35-29. Harford's offense from distance was non-existent early, making just 1-of-11 attempts from three-point range.

Following a Khalil Williams-Diggins layup to begin the second, the Fighting Owls were forced to watch the Cougars reel off 13-straight points. A pair of threes from Jaedon Willis brought Harford back with in 11, but two long scoring droughts from the men in blue midway through the second sunk their tournament finals hopes for good.

Game Notes
  • Kevin Perry just missed out on a double-double, finishing with 12 points and nine rebounds.
  • Isaiah Boggs led the team with three assists.
  • Frederick outrebounded Harford 39-25.
  • The Cougars' starters did most of the heavy lifting on offense, scoring 73 of their 91 points.
  • Harford shot 59% from the free throw line, their worst mark from the charity stripe since their loss to Pensacola State back on Nov. 9.
