Bel Air, Md. –
Eli Doyle scored two times in final six minutes of the contest, allowing the No. 2 Harford Fighting Owls to move past Denison University (JV), 12-9, Monday evening inside Harford Stadium.
The Fighting Owls seemed to have the game in hand at the beginning of the fourth quarter, but the Big Red scored a pair of goals midway through the fourth to tie the game at 9-9. Doyle's second goal of the game came just 31 seconds later, blasting a shot through the Denison defense to put Harford ahead 10-9.
After a big stop by Fighting Owls goalie
Barret Casto and a Denison turnover caused by
Peyton Winters, Harford head coach
Aaron Verardi would call time to with juts under three minutes left to play.
The Fighting Owls nearly lost possession out of the break after Denison caused a ground ball, but
Alex Wroe claimed it and dished it out to
Grady DiPeso. The Harford sophomore moved around the cage and fired a pass to
Owen Consoletti, who'd move to his left and fire a shot into the net to double the Fighting Owls' advantage.
Doyle's third goal came with the game 18 seconds left, sealing Harford's fourth win in a row.
