Bel Air, Md. - No. 2 Harford claimed its fifth consecutive victory on Friday night inside Harford Stadium, dousing the No. 5 Howard Dragons, 11-6.
The Fighting Owls and Dragons fired shots back and forth to no avail early on in the first. Howard's Colvin Prosser ended the drought at just under five minutes in the first, with Harford not answering until
Tyler Wagoner hit pay dirt with 1:20 left in the quarter.
Freshman attacker
Owen Consoletti took over in the second, scoring three of his team leading five goals in the first four minutes of quarter to put Harford ahead 4-1. Howard cut the deficit by scoring a couple minutes later, but
Moriah Yousefi and
Reece Wiseman drove home two more to hand Harford a 6-2 lead at the half.
Another back-and-forth 10 minutes ensued in the third, until
Tyler Wagoner's goal with seven seconds left bumped Harford's advantage to 9-4.
Chandler Schmidt kicked off the final quarter with his second goal of the day, but Howard retaliated to remain behind by five.
The Dragons were given a chance to comeback on a non-releasable two minute Harford penalty. Howard managed to pull one back, but Harford's defense stepped up and held them scoreless the rest of the contest.
Harford jumps to 5-1 (1-0 Md Juco) after the win. Howard falls to 3-2.
