How it Happened
The winless Rams posed little challenge to the Fighting Owls in doubles action, with Harford claiming the point after sweeping all three matches. No. 2 doubles was the most competitive, with the duo of
John Brett and
Adam Larsen pulling off a 6-3 victory over West Chester.
After
Artur Etzberger and Larsen knocked out the Rams in No. 1 and No. 2 doubles respectively, Harford needed just one point from their final four matches to earn the win.
Bruno Brocanelli made this a reality, ripping past West Chester's Brett Spano in straight sets (6-0, 6-3).
Harford split the two most entertaining matches of the day.
Nico Verdu came back from losing the first set, battling Rams' No. 4 Gavin Kenny to a third set tiebreaker after claiming the second. Verdu hung tough, but eventually lost the tiebreaker, 10-7.
Willian Lopes would also fight back after losing his first set in No. 6 singles, claiming the second set and the tiebreaker to give Harford five of the seven points on the day.
