Salisbury, Md. – Harford's five match win streak came to a halt on Wednesday, as the Fighting Owls fell on the road to the Salisbury Seagulls, 5-4. The defeat comes as the first loss to a four-year program of 2019.
Despite the loss, Harford stays above .500 at 6-5 on the year.
How it Happened
Thomas Norwood and
Artur Etzberger continue to produce for Harford, claiming straight set wins in singles action. The two men teamed up to capture the lone doubles point for the Fighting Owls as well, cruising to an 8-2 defeat of Salisbury's No. 1 doubles pairing.
Adria Aguilar Guerrero had the most grueling match of the day at No. 6 singles. The freshman from Spain fought off two match points to claim the first set, only to drop the second, 6-4. Guerrero once again fell behind in the third set tiebreaker but battled back through questionable calls to claim Harford's fourth point of the afternoon.
Adam Larsen and
John Brett nearly came through with a definitive fifth point for the Fighting Owls, but both fell in competitive three set matches to the Seagulls at No. 3 and No. 4 singles.
