Forever Fightins': Brett Hash ('15)

After being awarded all-decade honors for Harford baseball, 2015 NJCAA All-American Brett Hash sat down with us to relive his time at Harford and let us in on what he's been up to since. The former Marucci Elite Hitter award winner hit .443 with 70 RBI as a sophomore while smashing a single-season program record seven triples.

Describe your time at Harford and how it prepared you for the next level?

My time at Harford was life changing. I met so many people that positively impacted my life. Whether it was winning a Region 20 Championship as a Freshman or being part of a powerhouse team that was nationally ranked my sophomore season, I wouldn't trade it for anything. Being a baseball player at Harford taught me how to be gritty. I can honestly say that I got into the best shape of my life at Harford because I found the drive to become the best player I could possibly be.

What were some of the keys to your success while at Harford?

When I think of the success I had a Harford, I think immediately of my teammates and coaches that helped me along the way. I consider myself extremely lucky to have played for Tom Eller and JT Maguire. Both of them developed me to become a great hitter and taught me to be confident as well. With great coaches and teammates, it was easy to be comfortable and fully buy into the program.

What does being named to the Baseball All-Decade Team mean to you?

Being named to the All-Decade Team means a lot to me. When I first got to Harford in 2013, guys like Joe Harbach, Norm Donkin, and James Wilson seemed like legends. To be named on a list with them as well as some of the younger guys I played with and helped teach along the way, such as Dom DiSabatino, is hard to describe.

Last time fighting owl fans saw you, you were on your way to Wofford. How was that experience and what have you been up to since?

Wofford was another experience for me that I would not trade. Wofford baseball taught me how to be a true student of the game and is where I learned that I wanted to coach after my playing career ended. I now live in Columbia, South Carolina with my girlfriend Morgan and dog Jackson. I coach high school baseball and I am pursuing a career in teaching.

What advice would you give to current and future Fighting Owls?

The advice I have for current and future Fighting Owls is to fully take in the Harford experience. Finding a school to play for after Harford seemed easy when I fully bought into playing for the program, my teammates, and coaches. Fully committing yourself will make the process of finding your next school to play for that much easier
