Ross Rolls as Harford Edges Cougars

BEL AIR, Md. - Harford freshman Ricardo Ross scored a career high 27 points and eight rebounds, as the Fighting Owls defeated the Frederick Cougars via 67-62 scoreline on Wednesday evening.

Ross finished 11-for-17 from the field, including a 50% shooting clip from three. He also led the team in assists (five) and picked up a pair of steals. Malik Carson (12 points, six rebounds) and Kenny Moore (10 points) also finished in double figures.

The win is Harford's first at home in its 2021-22 campaign and its first triumph over Frederick since 2017-18.

The Fighting Owls are now 3-3 (1-1 MD JUCO) on the year with today's victory.

Turning Point
Frederick pulled within three points of the lead with just over a minute left in the second half. Much like they had all game, the Fighting Owls put the ball into the hands of Ricardo Ross for a bucket. The frosh paid them back for it with a strong finish in the paint to make it 65-60.

A quick layup by Frederick put the lead back down to three, but Ross grabbed the rock off the inbound and flushed home a thunderous dunk with 11 seconds to go. A pair of missed three-point attempts by the Cougars gave way to the final whistle sounding with the Fighting Owls on top.

Box Score Highlights
  • Brian Jackson finished with four points and eight rebounds
  • Chandler Johnson dished out four assists and had two steals
  • Lui Abdeta recorded the game's only block
