WASHINGTON, D.C. – Harford served up a win to start the season, defeating the The University of The Distrcit of Columbia 4-3 Friday afternoon.
How it Happened
Harford dropped the doubles point, falling 6-3 and 6-4 in No. 1 and No. 2 duos.
Côme Bulté and
Alexander Carlsson scored a 7-5 win in No. 3 doubles.
The Fighting Owls trumped the Firebirds in singles play, winning four matches against UDC.
Pablo Poleo picked up a straight set win (6-3, 7-6 (3)) in No. 2 singles, while Bulte and
Tinashe Whata also earned straight set victories in No. 5 and 6 singles respectively.
The longest battle of the day was in No. 4 singles, where
Paulo Reis Jr. came away with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 defeat of Maksim Bahdanovich of UDC. This proved to be enough to down the Firebirds.
