Fighting Owls Men's Basketball Continues Committment to Community

Aberdeen, Md. - The Harford Community College Men's Basketball program continued its commitment to service and relationship-building last weekend by volunteering with Habitat for Humanity's ReStore center in Aberdeen, Maryland.

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., student-athletes and coaches worked alongside ReStore staff to support the organization's mission of providing affordable housing solutions within the community.

"It was great to be out in the community and meet so many great people who give so much of their own time helping others," said Harford head men's basketball coach Solomon Zurier.

Throughout the day, the team assisted with a variety of tasks, including moving and organizing furniture, stocking shelves, sorting donations, and preparing clothing racks for customers. Their efforts helped increase the ReStore's overall efficiency and improved the shopping experience for families in need.

This marks the second consecutive year the Fighting Owls have partnered with the Aberdeen ReStore center, reinforcing a growing relationship and a shared commitment to giving back.

The team also shared a lunch together at ReStore, providing time for reflection, connection and appreciation for the work being done. Following the service project, the group enjoyed a team-bonding bowling outing at Forest Hill Lanes, celebrating a rewarding day of collaboration both on and off the court.

By dedicating time to serve their local community, Fighting men's basketball continues to develop not only strong student-athletes, but servant-leaders who take pride in making a positive impact close to home.

"There are some truly special people in Harford County and it was an amazing experience watching our players interact with one another outside of our normal arena," Zurier said, adding,  "I'm excited about our upcoming season and I hope that we are able to bring some of the people we met this weekend to some games."
