The Harford Fighting Owls delivered a dominant four-game stretch this week, sweeping doubleheaders against CCBC Essex on Tuesday and Anne Arundel on Wednesday to extend their current winning streak to 18 games. Fueled by offensive fireworks and strong pitching, Harford outscored its opponents by a combined 62–12 margin.
Tuesday vs. CCBC Essex: Adamski Ignites the Offense
In game one, Frank Adamski (John Carroll) was the centerpiece of Harford's 11–0 rout over CCBC Essex, driving in four runs with a third inning double and a towering three-run homer in the fourth. Greyson Kovatch (Dowingtown, Pa.) got the Fighting Owls on the board with a triple in the second and Derek Poole (Archbishop Curley) followed Adamski's lead with a three-run shot of his own.
Starting pitcher Kyle Tuthill (Morrisville, Pa.) earned the shutout win, tossing five scoreless innings with three strikeouts while allowing just two hits.
Game two was a slugfest, but Harford came out on top 17–10, again led by Adamski, who mirrored his earlier performance with four RBIs — including a two-run homer in a seven-run seventh inning that broke the game open. The Fighting Owls racked up 15 hits, with Matthew Rubin (Naples, Fla.) collecting three and driving in two. Michael Lavanga (Alexandria, Va.) and Jeremy Reyes (Queens, N.Y.) added key hits, while Christian Elliott (Somers Point, N.J.) and Keanu Cowley (Sydney, New South Wales, Australia) kept the runs coming.
Rubin picked up the win in relief, while Gavin Glass (Lancaster, Pa.) delivered three scoreless innings to stabilize the middle of the game. Harford's patience at the plate paid off as they drew nine walks and maintained control even as CCBC Essex mounted a brief comeback in the sixth inning.
Wednesday vs. AACC: Elliott and Mercado Power Another Sweep
Harford stayed hot on Wednesday, launching a 23–0 blowout in game one against Anne Arundel. Elliott had a career day, driving in six runs — including a grand slam in the first inning. He added an RBI single in the second and drew a bases-loaded walk in the third.
The Fighting Owls exploded for 11 runs in the fourth inning despite collecting just two hits in the frame, capitalizing on walks, hit-by-pitches, and defensive miscues. Starting pitcher Ryan Garcia (Centreville, Va.) tossed a one-hit shutout over five innings with six strikeouts, and the defense remained airtight with zero errors.
Game two was more of the same, as Harford cruised to an 11–2 victory. Poole, Lavanga and Ty Mercado (Ocean View, N.J.) all drove in runs during a three-run first. Mercado starred again later, collecting two hits and three RBIs.
Lion Gardiner (Walt Whitman) picked up the win with four shutout innings, allowing just one hit and fanning four. Harford's bats stayed hot with 13 hits, and they swiped four bases in another clean defensive effort.
Harford returns to action on Monday as they host Cecil College for a nine-inning affair. The game is under the lights with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m. It will be $5 cash only to attend and spectators will receive a raffle ticket to win a Wawa gift card, for donating a nonperishable food item.
