Kourtney Lewis-Orr Named Head Women's Basketball Coach

BEL AIR, Md. — Harford Community College Athletics has named former Fighting Owl Kourtney Lewis-Orr as the new head coach of the women's basketball program.

A Joppatowne, Maryland native and former Harford student-athlete, Lewis-Orr returns to the Fighting Owls following an accomplished coaching career at the high school and AAU levels. She brings experience building successful programs and a strong connection to the local basketball community.

"My immediate goal is to establish a culture built on commitment, accountability, discipline, and trust," Lewis-Orr said. "I want our players to understand that being a part of this program is something they earn every day, not simply something they are given. Every position, every minute, every leadership opportunity, and every level of trust will be earned through preparation, effort, attitude, and consistency."

Lewis-Orr began her coaching career at Dulaney High School in 2018 and became the program's head coach in 2021. During her four years as head coach, Dulaney advanced to the regional championship four times in five years and won two regional championships.

"We are excited to welcome Kourtney Lewis-Orr back to Harford and to have her lead our women's basketball program," said Harford Athletic Director Ed Liesch.

Lewis-Orr has also built an extensive background in AAU basketball. She served as head coach of the Gladiators from 2020 to 2024 before joining PowerMove as an assistant coach in 2025. She became the PowerMove head coach in 2026.

Her connection to basketball in Harford County began long before her coaching career. Lewis-Orr played four years of varsity basketball at Joppatowne High School from 2007 to 2011, helping the Mariners win two regional championships and a state title.

She continued her playing career at Harford Community College, where she made an immediate impact as a freshman during the 2011-12 season. Lewis-Orr led the Fighting Owls with 9.4 rebounds per game while averaging 8.4 points and 1.2 blocks per game. She also led the team with a 39 percent field-goal percentage.

Lewis-Orr continued to make her presence felt on the boards throughout her Harford career, recording several standout rebounding performances, including a career-high 17 rebounds in a 2013 victory over Garrett.

After Harford, Lewis-Orr transferred to Towson University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education. She later earned a master's degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine.
