ROCKVILLE, Md.—The Harford men's lacrosse team snapped a six-game losing skid on Wednesday as it downed host Montgomery College-Rockville, 18-7 at Rockville.
The Fighting Owls (6-8, 1-3 MDJUCO) had previously dropped their last four games, but, after being forced to vacate their Apr. 1 win against Jefferson due to an ineligible player, saw their losing streak extended to six games.
Freshman Dane Grudzien (Joppatowne, Md./Joppatowne) paced Harford with five points on four goals and an assist, while freshman Ben Wilson (Bel Air, Md./Fallston) added another five points on three goals and two assists.
Rockville stayed with the Owls for the first quarter, as Harford took a 4-3 lead after 15:00 of play, but three Harford goals in the second would give the Owls the lead for good as they took a 7-4 advantage into the break.
Harford blew the game wide open in the third, scoring six goals to the Knights' one and added five more in the final quarter to Rockville's two on the way to the 18-7 win.
Freshmen Mike Miller (Parkville, Md./Parkville) and Tim Kemena (West Chester, Pa./West Chester Henderson) assumed the goalkeeping duties for Harford, with Miller stopping two shots in 30:00 and Kemena making four saves in 30:00.
The Fighting Owls wrap up the regular season on Saturday when they face No. 6 Anne Arundel at Towson University for a 2:45 p.m. game.
