BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford men's lacrosse team (6-8, 1-2) saw a comeback effort come up just short against Howard (7-5, 3-0). The Fighting Owls cut a five-goal deficit to one late, but fell 12-10 in the end.
Harford went on a 4-1 run in the last two minutes of the third quarter to cut Howard's lead to two goals. Freshmen
Greg Goodwin sparked the comeback as he scored twice within ten seconds. Sophomores
Jason Terry and
Sonny Botterill scored goals 20 seconds apart to finish a wild flurry of goals after Howard freshman
Patrick Serio scored to answer the goals from Goodwin.
Harford scored three times in the fourth quarter but each time Howard answered with a goal to maintain their two-goal lead. Sophomore
Jake Hancock scored a hat trick to lead Harford's attack. Goodwin, Botterill and sophomore
Jacob Duarte netted two goals each. Duarte was strong in face-offs, winning 10 out 16.
The Fighting Owls will honor their sophomores on Saturday, April 28th at noon in the teams regular season finale at Harford Stadium.
