BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford men's lacrosse team (5-5) used a strong second half effort to even its record and take down Finger Lakes (5-7) at home on Saturday. The Fighting Owls controlled the pace after halftime, taking 21 shots to the Lakers 13.
Harford jumped out to a 2-0 lead just 24 seconds into the contest on goals by
Sonny Botterill. After taking a 3-1 lead, the Lakers scored three straight to take a 4-3 lead, but Harford scored twice before intermission to take a 5-4 lead into the break.
Botterill netted the hat trick, while
Jacob Duarte scored twice and assisted on another.
Jake Hancock also added a pair of first-half goals, including a nifty behind-the-back tally from point-blank range.
Nate Gilpin made 12 saves in goal, including four in the first and fourth quarters.
Jake Donahoe and
Greg Goodwin added a goal and an assist in the win, while
Jason Terry netted one goal.
The Fighting Owls travel to CCBC Essex on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. start.
