Men's Lacrosse Takes Home-Opener Against ASA

BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford men's lacrosse team rode a 13-3 second half to their first win of the season in the home-opener against ASA Institute.

The Fighting Owls (1-1, 0-0 MD JUCO) went into halftime with the score knotted at six before taking advantage of a plethora of ASA penalties in the third and fourth quarters to get their first win, 19-9 in front of a crowd of 128 at Harford Stadium.

Sophomore attacker Ricky DeMicco led the way with five goals on 10 shots while also assisting on five goals.

Harford got hat tricks from a quartet of freshman as well. Attacker Ryan Wall and midfielder Justin Gosnell each scored three goals on seven shots. Attacker Dominic Mezzanotte and midfielder Matt Ward were each perfect, needing just three shots to tally three goals each. Wall and Ward each chipped in with two assists while Gosnell and Mezzanotte also added an assist each.

Sophomore goal keeper Tom Yancheski picked up his first win as a Fighting Owl in between the pipes. He turned away 14 out of 23 shots on goal in his home debut.

Harford will be back in action tomorrow when they play host to Morris at 2 PM.
