BALTIMORE - The Harford men's lacrosse team (12-5) fell in the 2013 NJCAA Region XX Championship Game at CCBC Essex on Sunday, 9-8. The Fighting Owls, however, earned an at-large bid into next week's NJCAA National Tournament.
Harford claimed the No. 5 seed in the six-team tournament, earning the first-ever at-large bid into the six-team tournament. The Fighting Owls will take on No. 4 CCBC Essex for the third time in as many weeks for a right to reach the final four in Garden City, N.Y.
The Fighting Owls trailed by three with1:30 remaining and scored their eighth goal with nine second's remaining, cutting the Knight lead to 9-8. Harford won the ensuing faceoff, but couldn't get close enough for the game-tying goal.
The NJCAA Tournament gets underway for Harford on Saturday, May 4 at CCBC Essex.
