Box Score BEL AIR, Md. - Harford freshman attack
Pete Vasilas scored a school-record 10 goals in the men's lacrosse 27-5 victory over Region XX foe Southern Maryland on Wednesday.
Vasilas' magical night consisted of four goals before the visiting Hawks scored, three man-up opportunites and six second-half tallies. The 10 goals is one better than
Ryan Wall's nine tallies in last year's Region XX opener against Northern Virginia. Current assistant coach
Ricky DeMicco scored eight goals on two separate occasions.
Freshmen
Jeremy Scranton and
Mike Cooke both notched five goals in the win while
Lorenzo DiPasquale netted two goals and pair of assists. Cooke led the way with three helpers, while
Matt Diggs scored once and assisted on two more.
Ethan White made 11 saves in net for the win.
The victory sets the table for Saturday's regular-season finale. If the Fighting Owls defeat Anne Arundel, they should claim the No. 3 seed and host an opening round Region XX contest on Tuesday. Saturday's crucial contest begins at 1 p.m.
